Jamie Foxx, the host of the game show “Beat Shazam,” was hospitalized due to a medical emergency, according to Variety. Foxx was replaced by guest host Nick Cannon for one episode while he recovers.
“Beat Shazam” is a music-based game show where contestants compete to identify songs faster than the app Shazam. Foxx has been the host of the show since its premiere in 2017.
The reason for Foxx’s hospitalization has not been disclosed. However, his sister DeOndra Dixon passed away in 2020 due to complications related to Down Syndrome. Foxx has been a vocal advocate for people with disabilities and started the DeOndra Dixon Foundation in honor of his sister.
Cannon, who is also a comedian and television personality, has experience hosting shows like “Wild ‘n Out” and “The Masked Singer.” He will fill in as the guest host for the episode of “Beat Shazam” that Foxx was scheduled to film.
