The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 110-105 in Game 3 of their first-round playoff series to take a 2-1 lead. The Lakers came out strong, scoring a franchise-record 45 points in the first quarter, but the Grizzlies fought back, with Dillon Brooks leading the way with 29 points. However, LeBron James and Anthony Davis combined for 51 points to help the Lakers secure the win.
The Lakers got off to a hot start, with James and Davis each scoring 10 points in the first quarter. The team shot 79% from the field in the quarter and hit nine three-pointers to take a 45-29 lead. The Grizzlies battled back, with Brooks scoring 15 points in the second quarter to cut the Lakers’ lead to four at halftime.
In the second half, the Grizzlies continued to fight, with Brooks hitting a three-pointer to tie the game at 96 with just over five minutes remaining. However, the Lakers responded with a 10-2 run, with James scoring six of those points, to take control of the game. The Grizzlies had a chance to tie it in the final seconds, but Brooks missed a three-pointer and the Lakers secured the rebound to seal the win.
With the victory, the Lakers took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series. Game 4 will be played on April 26.
