Charles Stanley, a well-known pastor and founder of In Touch Ministries, has died at the age of 89. Stanley passed away on September 19, 2021, after a brief illness.

Born in 1932 in Dry Fork, Virginia, Stanley went on to become a prominent figure in the evangelical community. He served as the senior pastor at First Baptist Church of Atlanta for over 50 years and founded In Touch Ministries, a global media outreach ministry that has reached millions of people around the world through radio, television, and digital platforms.

Throughout his career, Stanley authored numerous books, including “The Blessings of Brokenness,” “How to Listen to God,” and “The Source of My Strength.” He also served as the president of the Southern Baptist Convention from 1984 to 1986.

In addition to his religious work, Stanley was known for his commitment to family values and the importance of faith in daily life. He was married to his wife, Anna J. Stanley, for 44 years until her death in 2008, and the couple had two children.

Stanley’s passing has been mourned by many in the religious community and beyond. In a statement, In Touch Ministries called him “a beloved pastor, teacher, and friend who will be deeply missed.”
