Baseball Legend Vida Blue Inspires Young Players at Youth Clinic in Jacksonville

Former Major League Baseball pitcher Vida Blue led a youth baseball clinic in Jacksonville, Florida on May 12, 2023. Blue, who played for the Oakland Athletics, San Francisco Giants, and Kansas City Royals, spent the day teaching kids ages 7-12 the fundamentals of baseball, including pitching, hitting, and fielding.

The clinic was organized by the Jax Youth Sports Foundation, which aims to provide positive sports experiences for children in the Jacksonville area. According to the foundation’s president, Blue was a perfect fit for the event because of his passion for the game and his willingness to give back to the community.

Blue, a six-time All-Star and the 1971 American League Cy Young Award winner, has a long history of working with young people through baseball clinics and other events. He says that he loves teaching kids about the game and helping them to develop their skills.

Overall, the clinic was a great success, with many kids getting the chance to meet and learn from one of baseball’s legends. The Jax Youth Sports Foundation hopes to continue hosting similar events in the future, bringing the joy of sports to more young people in the community.
